What You Will Learn

The Benefits of Creating a Practice

1. The First Core Practice teaches you to hold yourself with inherent worth despite your imperfections. Your worth is not defined by how you perform, what you have, or who loves you. Recognizing your worth is an 'inside-out' job. Your weaknesses don't make you less than others and your gifts don't make you better than others. Your weaknesses and strengths all simply define your humanity. When you recognize this, you start living in the 'same-as' position. 


2. The Second Core Practice teaches you to use boundaries to protect yourself. Your external boundaries and sexual boundaries help to protect you physical body, while your internal boundaries or psychological boundaries protect your psyche. These boundaries are essential for understanding who you are, distinguishing where others 'end' and you 'begin'. Using healthy boundaries creates a sense of Self.


3. The Third Core Practice teaches you how to create a sense of Self by tuning into the information that your senses bring to you, learning how to know what you are thinking, and recognizing what emotions you are feeling and the sensations that they are creating in the body.  In doing so, you begin to create your own sense of Self as you become more aware of what is happening to and within you. 


4. The Fourth Core Practice teaches you how to discover what you need and want. You will recognize the importance of self-care by attending to your needs and wants and learning how to be interdependent with others. 


5. The Fifth Core Practice teaches you to create balance and moderation in your life by learning to recognize whether you are living in 'shutdown' or are in need of more containment.
